Universita’ degli Studi di Genova – UNIGE

The University of Genova has a staff of almost 3000 people, more than 40000 students and 23 departments and 25 research centres. Established in May 2012, The Department of Computer Science and Engineering, Bioengineering, Robotics and Systems Engineering (DIBRIS) of the University of Genova combines scientific and technological expertise, operating as an inter-school department within the Polytechnic School and the School of Science. DIBRIS is composed of several branches located in Genova and in Savona. In each branch there are the faculty offices, classrooms, and laboratories. DIBRIS research activities are carried out by faculty members, fellows, graduate students, and technical staff. DIBRIS is involved in research projects sponsored and funded primarily by the European Commission, Italian ministries, and private companies. In recent years, DIBRIS has participated in about 150 industrial projects, 35 international projects and 40 national projects. In the same timeframe, DIBRIS researchers have published more than 1,500 papers in peer-reviewed international journals and conference proceedings. DIBRIS offers diverse degrees in the areas of its competences at undergraduate and graduate levels, a PhD program in Computer Science and Systems Engineering, and a PhD program in Bioengineering and Robotics. In 2016 DIBRIS started a biennial Master in Data Science and Engineering. The backbone of the program is constituted by three core units on advanced data management, machine learning, and high performance computing. The rest of the program is organised in four tracks: Business Intelligence, Health & Life Sciences, Pervasive Computing, and Visual Computing. The Master in Data Science and Engineering and the PhD program in Computer Science and Systems Engineering programs provide courses on the most advanced topics on Artificial Intelligence and its applications.
